Bond Street Salon Outlines How Often to Refresh Hair Color, From Glosses to Highlights

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. – Clients often ask how soon they should return after a color appointment, and Bond Street Salon’s colorists say the answer depends on the service, the hair and the lifestyle behind it.

The downtown Delray Beach salon offers a full menu of hair color options, from gloss and tone and single process to root shadow, partial and full highlights, partial and full balayage, bleach and tone, fashion color and color correction. Each carries its own rhythm, and colorists map out a maintenance plan during the consultation instead of handing every client the same schedule.

“There is no universal calendar for color,” said Lauren Donald, owner of Bond Street Salon. “A gloss that refreshes tone and shine lives on a different timeline than a hand-painted balayage, and a root shadow behaves differently again. We talk through how you wear your hair and how it grows, then set the plan together.”

In general, glosses and toners focus on tone and shine and are the kind of service clients may come back for more often, while dimensional services such as balayage are designed to grow out softly. Colorists also assess whether a client’s goals are best served by a refresh, a new service or color correction.

Aftercare is part of the plan. South Florida’s sun, salt, heat and humidity can leave color looking dull and hair feeling dry, so Bond Street relies on sulfate-free, sodium chloride-free, paraben-free and cruelty-free products. Clients can also visit for complimentary R+Co Bleu and Oribe conditioning treatments on the day of service and weekly in between, with no appointment needed.

“Color lasts best on hair that is healthy,” Donald said. “That is why we pair every formula with a plan for conditioning and care between visits.”

The salon has served South Florida since 2005 from its boutique home in the Pineapple Grove area of downtown Delray Beach. Its team continues training with leading industry names, and it uses Wella hair color.
