Verkada expands physical AI platform with transportation security, cloud-managed sound systems, and MCP integrations
PR Newswire
SAN MATEO, Calif., Sept. 17, 2026
New platform capabilities announced at VerkadaOne extend real-time visibility, automated deterrence, and customizable AI workflows across the enterprise.
SAN MATEO, Calif., Sept. 17, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Verkada, a leader in AI-powered physical security and operations, today unveiled new capabilities for vehicle fleets, enterprise sound systems, and building operations during its annual customer conference, VerkadaOne.
More than 2,500 IT and physical security leaders gathered in Miami to see new ways that Verkada is bringing physical AI into the built environment and solving complex security and operational challenges.
Protecting people and assets in motion with Verkada Transportation
Verkada is extending enterprise protection to people and assets in transit with its new Verkada Transportation product line. With three ruggedized camera models, a 5G and Wi-Fi vehicle gateway, integration with vehicle diagnostics, and an enhanced Command experience, Verkada’s platform will ensure every vehicle is safe, secure and ready for transit – and passenger privacy with face blurring. Security teams can access footage from moving or parked vehicles, review fleet-wide driving events to track overall safety and performance, and search by GPS location, driving behavior, or vehicle health.
Streamlining cloud-managed audio with Verkada Sound Systems
Verkada launched Sound Systems, bringing cloud-based control to enterprise audio. Sound Systems offers a single interface for enterprises to manage every part of an organization’s audio environment – from hardware to ambient music, and even announcements – while eliminating the need for separate apps, local consoles, and vendor portals that enterprise sound systems have traditionally required. The lineup includes Network Audio Players to connect existing third-party speakers and amplifiers to Command, as well as Network Speakers with plug-and-play Power over Ethernet (PoE) connectivity for simplified deployment.
Introducing Catalyst, Verkada’s MCP for Physical AI
Verkada introduced Catalyst, a read-only Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration for its Command platform that enables customers to connect approved third-party AI platforms like Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini. With Catalyst, teams can create custom operational workflows, reports, and integrations in minutes using natural language – from confirming shelves are stocked to triggering an IT ticket when a camera or sensor loses its network connection. Catalyst will roll out as a read-only tool, ensuring organizations retain control over their agents and workflows.
Next-Gen Computer Vision Capabilities & Platform Updates
Verkada also unveiled a range of new computer vision-powered capabilities and platform updates across its product portfolio:
- AI-powered alerts and investigation tools: A new Live mode for Verkada’s Unified Timeline provides a powerful tool for critical, real-time investigations. New alerts include wrong-way-driving for industrial sites, blocked-door to ensure critical entrances and exits remain unobstructed, Transport Number Mode for container ID tracking in logistics facilities, and concealment and grab-and-run alerts for retail loss prevention.
- Expanded Camera lineup: A new thermal camera series to more reliably identify people and vehicles in low-light environments, from longer-range distances, visibility in adverse weather conditions or through obstructions like bushes or trees; and six new government-grade FIPS-validated cameras.
- Skydio drone integration: When a specified alert is triggered in Command, Verkada’s new Skydio integration can automatically transmit Verkada camera GPS coordinates to Skydio to dispatch an autonomous drone to the scene, bringing footage from that drone into Command for a comprehensive view of an incident.
- Enhanced entry and access experience: TK74 Touchscreen Intercom for multi-tenant buildings, AW33 Wireless Access Controller for more flexible deployment of wireless locks, AI reception capabilities for front-desk workflows, and new employee check-in features for multi-site travel.
- Smarter, simpler Alarms and detection: A compact 10-zone BP42 Alarm Panel, new Better Sensor Protocol (BSP) for daisy-chaining up to 200 sensors across large sites, and fire alarm monitoring so that organizations can manage fire safety alongside intrusion detection.
- Reimagined map-based view: Verkada Maps creates a dynamic, 3D digital twin of facilities within Command, giving customers visibility of all of their Verkada devices in one view. When an event or alert comes in, the relevant device highlights and shows a live preview of what triggered it, so they know what happened and where without leaving the map.
Software updates will begin rolling out October 8. Hardware will begin shipping in October and November. To learn more, visit www.verkada.com.
