Voltaris Power LLC (“Voltaris”), a portfolio company of Mill Point Capital LLC (“Mill Point”), announced today that it has acquired Electronic Power Design, LLC (“EPD”), a Houston, Texas-based provider of mission-critical power distribution equipment and solutions serving data center, commercial and industrial markets.
Voltaris is a leading manufacturer of custom low- and medium-voltage switchgear, transformers and integrated power solutions serving data center, utility, commercial and industrial markets. The combination will expand Voltaris’s engineering, manufacturing and power distribution capabilities, adding meaningful scale, technical depth, industrialized high-volume production capacity and a broader product portfolio to support increasingly complex customer requirements. The transaction advances Voltaris’s strategy to build a differentiated, scalable energy‑infrastructure platform positioned to meet critical power needs across rapidly growing sectors.
Founded in 1986, EPD brings four decades of industry experience, a talented team of engineers and technical professionals and purpose-built manufacturing operations in Houston, Texas. EPD’s principal product focus is custom low-voltage switchboards listed to UL 891 standards, complemented by power distribution units and related power distribution equipment. EPD combines custom electrical engineering with industrialized, high-volume production to manufacture complex equipment at scale while maintaining a strong focus on quality, reliability and long-term operational performance. In addition, EPD has decades of experience designing and manufacturing 800-volt direct current (800 VDC) power systems, for demanding marine and offshore applications, a distinctive body of direct-current expertise that is directly relevant as data centers increasingly evaluate higher-voltage direct-current power architectures. EPD strengthens Voltaris’s position across the power value chain and broadens the combined company’s ability to meet demanding technical, capacity, schedule and customer requirements.
The combined company will be positioned to capitalize on several attractive long-term trends, including the rapid expansion of hyperscale and colocation data centers, increasing power density associated with artificial intelligence (AI) workloads, continued investment in electrical infrastructure and the growing importance of resilient and flexible power systems. The platform will continue to pursue organic growth, capacity expansion, product innovation and new applications across established and emerging markets.
“We are thrilled to announce Voltaris’s acquisition of EPD,” said Brandon Sarno, Partner at Mill Point Capital. “The combination represents a significant milestone in Voltaris’s growth, accelerating our value creation plan and creating a stronger, more comprehensive platform to serve customers’ evolving power distribution needs.”
“We are excited to welcome EPD to Voltaris,” commented Justin Smith, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Chairman of Voltaris. “EPD’s experienced team, engineering talent, manufacturing capabilities and customer-focused culture are highly complementary to Voltaris. Together, we will be better positioned to expand capacity, accelerate product development and support customers as power requirements become larger and more complex.”
“I am excited for EPD to become part of Voltaris and for what this combination can create for our employees and customers,” said John Janik, Chief Executive Officer of EPD. “EPD has spent four decades building its engineering capabilities, manufacturing expertise and reputation for solving difficult power distribution challenges. Voltaris gives us an opportunity to build on that foundation, expand our capabilities, accelerate innovation and continue delivering dependable, high-quality solutions for mission-critical applications.”
Evercore served as financial advisor to EPD, and Haynes and Boone, LLP served as legal counsel to EPD in connection with the transaction.
